Anti-Semitism.

Growing up in the 60s I never dreamed that I would witness the rise of anti-Semitism as I am now. Children were raised to love their brothers not just to merely tolerate them and all that love and peace stuff. Remember?

Last night PBS aired a program called 'Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century'. How depressing to watch interview after interview with everyday men and women in the Arab world talking about the Protocols of the Elders of Zion as though it were fact and as casually as the weather. Their main complaint was the old 'Jews are running the world' bullshit and their imagined secret meetings where global takeover is plotted at night. A young woman in Egypt claimed that she knew for a 'fact' that all the Jews were told not to go to work on September 11, 2001. Do these unfortunate people have any idea how utterly stupid they appear to the rest of the world? How revolting it was to see them so proud of their degenerate feelings about other human beings. It was so natural to them.

If anyone is plotting to take over the world, then please let me point out the obvious from today's headline. Its nothing new, we hear it all the time these days. Hizb ut-Tahrir, the Islamic supremacist group banned in much of the world, will hold a large hatefest in Sydney this month—and the Australian government says they are powerless to stop it. Here is a video of their ad for the 'Kilafah Conference 07'. Their aim is clearly stated, ISLAMIC TAKEOVER.

But, there are some bright spots appearing..

Tunisian Reformist author Abdelwaha Meddeb writes,
"The Current Antisemitism in Arab Countries is Directed Against Imaginary Jews"

According to Meddeb, one of the chief symptoms of the malady of Islam is resentment. This resentment is particularly strong, he says, regarding the West, and particularly regarding the Jews. It affects even secular Arab Muslims: "Preachers and even 'secular' editorialists view the disasters that have befallen their community through [the prism of] acute xenophobia: They invent an imaginary conspiracy and attribute it the other, who fulfils the role of the enemy. [Both] the faults of the collective and the shortcomings of individuals are attributed to the evil and malignant foreigner... What better way to rid oneself of responsibility after ridding oneself of guilt? [According to this view,] the Muslims' misery is caused by the
West... and by Israel, whose success is a source of vexation [for the Muslims] in light of their own failure, which they are unable to acknowledge.
Meddeb is the editor of the international French-language literary journal Dédale and professor of comparative literature at the University of Paris X in Nanterre. He has written several books, including La Maladie de l'Islam, which aroused considerable interest around the world and has been translated into English, Arabic, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Turkish. The book discusses the relationship between Islam and the West in light of the history of Islamic thought, and in connection with today's violent political Islam. Meddeb argues in the book that Islam is afflicted with the illness of fundamentalism.

I highly recommend an excellent blog called Point of No Return. It is a treasure trove of information and links about the Middle East's forgotten Jewish refugees.

Anti-semitism is also in the West. The PBS show last night said that 22% of Germans have a 'less than favorable view' of Jews. How nice. The percentages for the rest of Europe weren't presented. No need, just look at the rise of attacks on Jews in France and Britain alone. I experienced it when I transferred to Catholic school. It was of the low-grade variety, but to be called a 'Jew' was an insult. Of course I kept my mouth shut about my Jewish father but they all must have wondered about me when I was the sole person not recieving Holy Communion at Mass every week. Naturally this doesn't compare even in the slightest with what Jews have endured over the centuries, but I do know that even being half Jewish was enough to be sent to my death in Europe only 60 years ago.

PBS has not looked in the obvious place for anti-semitism American college campuses. The far left drives much of the Islamic anti-semitism. Commies Norman Finkelstein and Naoam Chomsky feed this rage and have made a cottage industry of nursing Islamo idiocy no matter how far fetched.

beakerkin,
Nor did PBS look at the complicity of mainstream media outlets like AP and Reuters who sell blocks of biased, staged and fauxtoshopped media product masqueraded as news throughout the world. Then there's always the BBC.

I started to watch, but couldn't bring myself to. I did, however, some time ago view a good documentary titled "Protocols Of Zion" that actually brought tears to my eyes. And I am by no means a stranger to vulgar hatred...A good film, but one that pulls at the heart and mind

Being a Leftist tool themselves, I am surprised PBS did not go looking on Christian campuses for some of their material.

BTW,
The photos in this post are mine.

My grandfather is in the top picture wearing a hat on left with his buddy in Brooklyn or Manhattan circa 1930s.

The 2nd photo is of my father and his brother and their older half-sister in upstate NY, early 1940s.

The 3rd one is of my father in the US Army, late 1950s. He's the one all the way in the center hamming it up. If you click on them you can see them enlarged.

It's sickening. I'm sorry you had that experience at a Catholic school. I went to several Catholic schools growing up and I can assure you that at most of them you would have had a different experience.
This Islamic supremacy group that you mentioned might not want to hold a rally in Sydney. Most Australians have had enough with Muslim groups in their country and there has been violence at past demonstrations.

AC,
I definitely don't fault all Catholics for that.

And you're right about the Australians, Good News!
The hate-fest by Hizb ut-Tahrir has been shut down by the Bankstown City Council.

I was just thinking about a post dealing with Arab Jews when i read your cool post.Arabs think that everything that happens here are run by Jews in the conpiracy way.one of my friends told me that the Jews are behind all the nude songs and things we see now so as to distract our youthand make them forget their religion!!I told him, this is an industry and it exists everywhere in the world even in Israel!!How can someone hate someone else because he believes in something else,i could never get this and i will not.my mom said that she remember when she was a kid their Jewish neibour mr.Marco and how he was such a nice man andhow decent he was and bring her candy and stuff,my grandpa says that Jews were very good in their work and they used to help people with money and stuff. We have a lot of stories in Islam that deals with Jews in an awful manner and some verses in Koran says that Jews are the people who hate you the most, and how they are evil and stuff,With all these religions uprising,Anti-Semitism woke up too Not to mention Israel was a reason as well,Not to mention that Most Egyptian jews stayed in Egypt after 1984 and even after revolution 1952 when the first president visited them is the synagogue to greet them as Egyptian people:
http://www.karaites.org/egyptsynagague/index.htm
I just hope that people can be a little bit tolerant and not to judge someone by his religion,it's just absurd,i just look at the old good days here and say those were the days that i wish it can come back someday.and maybe better day where racism and discrimination are all over.

P.S:the link you send me (video) was AWESOME!!it's a typical Arab attitude though, have you seen how much hatred ,hypocrisy and animosity, gee, how can these people live like that, thanks a lot ,it was really funny!!!

The anti-semitism in Europe runs so deep it's startling.

I was in Germany last year sitting in a cafe, and ended up chatting with a British expat. He seemed to be reasonable, certainly not a hard core lefty. When I mentioned something about BBC's anti-US bias, he said something like "Bah...just like the rest of the media, they're controlled by Jews."

I was dumbstruck. This was shortly after the Israel/Hizballah war, and all I could say was "Well, for a bunch of Jews, they certainly showed an anti-Israel bias in their coverage of the war in Lebanon."

Right about there is where the conversation ended.

The Jewish people don't evangelize, so you won't need to bar your door.
They have integrated into the larger society while at the same time maintaining their religious heritage.

If they have done well financially (and not all have) they should be admired for it as are many Asian groups who work hard and combine their efforts for the greater good of their communities.

What more could you ask of any group?

Not the whole world, sadly. My cousins landlord is a Polish immigrant, he also told me about the thousands of jews who didn't go to work that day. I had to struggle to stay composed and inform him that it was an urban legend. He didn't believe me. It didn't match his view of reality. For him, it was a bigger stretch to believe that that was an urban legend than to believe that the jews were behind 9/11.

I wonder who forgot to tell me about 9-11. I guess not paying my dues to the great Zionist conspiracy almost cost me. The sad part is I can easily find American Commies who say the same BS.

I watched it. I was laughing at the point of the show when they claimed that sure, the Jews were occasionally subject to servitude or extra taxes under Islamic law... But everything was basically fine until CHRISTIANS showed up and taught the Muslims how to be REALLY anti-semitic.

Those innocent Muslims, victimized again...

The Lord of Hosts, Baha'u'llah, makes it clear to all who seek the truth and to all who seek righteousness, that God has in this Day declared the Oneness of Humankind the pivotal principal around which all other Teachings revolve!

Baha'is have not been subject to irrational hatred AS LONG AS Jews, but I haven't been alive more than 60 years, so it is the hatred directed against Jews and Baha'is for these 60 years that catches my attention.

And with God's Holy Mountain, Mount Carmel, being chosen by the Lord of Hosts as the world administrative center of the Baha'i Faith, I expect MORE anti-Baha'i pogroms and anti-Jew atrocities until humankind LEARNS!

What civilized people find difficult to understand is that Muslims carefully and deliberately cultivate minds seething with hatred towards non-Muslims in general (not just Jews), and teach this venom to their children from infancy onwards.

Muslims are commanded by the Koran to focus their thoughts on hatred, which is the direct opposite of real religions such as Christianity and Buddhism, which encourage the mental qualities of love, compassion and the desire for peace.

The development and deliberate cultivation of hatred is such a central feature of Islam that there is nothing that we Kuffaars can do, or not do, that would make them hate us any less or any more. Hatred of the Kuffaar is so intrinsic to Islam that external events are irrelevant. - "Hatred of non-Moslems is the pivot of Islamic existence." (http://www.indiastar.com/wallia15.htm)

Muslims define their own identity solely in opposition to the Kuffaar. Islamic accomplishments are so negligible that they have no positive cultural features with which they can identify themselves. Hence the unceasing and implacable aggression toward civilized peoples.

Muslims are bound together chiefly by a shared and carefully nurtured animosity towards all non-Muslims. That is the defining feature of their cult. If we do not destroy Islam (hopefully non-violently) it will assuredly destroy us with extreme violence.

Some quotes illustrating the importance of hatred as the prime motivator for Muslims:

‘....emulating the non-Muslims in their outward characteristics leads to emulating them in their conducts and ugly deeds. It also makes one love them. Therefore differ from idolaters and disbelievers in their behaviour and opinions and beware of taking them as friends. You should hate them, disown them and their religion and be proud of your religion. Strive for their guidance and call them to Islaam.’
From http://www.alminbar.com/khutbaheng/1819.htm

‘Allah (SWT) tells you to love, and hate those whom He tells you to hate…..Therefore you must love the Muslims, believers and mujaahideen, and hate the kuffaar, Shaytaan and all other disbelievers; otherwise you will be violating one of the conditions of tawheed and hence become mushrik.‘
From http://islambest-muqatil.blogspot.com/2006/12/conditions-of-tawheed.html

Shaykh Muhammad al-Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about the ruling on mixing with the kuffaar and treating them kindly hoping that they will become Muslim. He replied:
Undoubtedly the Muslim is obliged to hate the enemies of Allaah and to disavow them, because this is the way of the Messengers and their followers. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Indeed there has been an excellent example for you in Ibraaheem (Abraham) and those with him, when they said to their people: ‘Verily, we are free from you and whatever you worship besides Allaah, we have rejected you, and there has started between us and you, hostility and hatred for ever until you believe in Allaah Alone’”
From http://islamqa.com/index.php?ln=eng&ds=qa&lv=browse&QR=59879&dgn=4

‘If the Muslim has to be with the non-Muslims physically, he should not be with them in his heart, and he must avoid mixing with them unnecessarily.
Even if they give you some of your rights by treating you nicely, they do not give Allah His rights and they do not give the Qur'an its rights and they do not give our Prophet his rights. The rights of Allah and His Book and His Prophet are more important than our personal rights. Remember this, for this is one of the things that will help you to hate them and regard them as enemies until they believe in Allah alone.'
