May Day Union Square 2008
I went to the May Day festivities at Union Square Park after work today. I don't know what to say other than it was a completely revolting experience. Basically a point-and-shoot, yep.

Good work. I've got you linked.
FYI I linked to you on http://www.protestshooter.com/20080501MayDay/
I'm getting good traffic so hopefully you'll get some of it!
aw arent they just precious?..blech!..as always fabulous work girl!
I morphed you in with Holocaust Remembrance Day.
There are so many ways to celebrate May Day.
It would appear to be the same rogues gallery we encountered at the counter-brainwashing session NY ICE held across from the park. They had the same tiresome dolts, e.g. some dude carrying an FMLN banner, the Spartacist League, SEIU union drones trucked in from across the City, etc., as last year.
FYI, the lovely gentleman holding up the expletive-laden sign in the background is not a fan of immigration enforcement officials.
"Who's the illegal immigrant, Pilgrim?"
Implying cutely but incorrectly that the aboriginals here when Pilgrim arrived ALREADY HAD a civilization capable of recognizing 'illegal' OR 'immigrants', and
further implying that there was something the aboriginals could DO about the coming immigration...
It wasn't illegal then and can't be made illegal retroactively. Like natives killing settlers (to enforce THEIR anti-immigration policies) it happened then, and NOW is NOW.
Looks like you snapped mostly War protesters. I guess you are for the Iraq War. 100 more years?
Anonymous-
I think you need to look again. The photos I took are a fair representation of everyone who was there.
UI
Ummm...I'm bewildered by Anonymous #1's post completely. Is that American you are attempting to write? I would hazard a guess that any true Native American would be put off by your term "aboriginal." I would also posit that the Native American culture (especially in the Northeast where the Pilgrims landed) was a highly developed culture who realized very soon that their culture was about to change. Ever heard of Roanoke Island, which was pre-Plymouth?
As for Anonymous #2, it's not about being FOR war, it's about being FOR American beliefs and values. You know, the same beliefs and values that let YOU believe and value what YOU wish (as fanciful as those beliefs may be).
BTW, great coverage as always, UI! Next time, remind me in advance and I'll head down there with you to check out these sad and dirty folks...
HL-
I don't have a problem with Anonymous#1's post at all. The term 'aboriginal' means native also.
My issue is with the "Who's the illegal immigrant, Pilgrim?" sign itself. The Pilgrims didn't invade the New World, it was the early Spanish explorers. And before them it was the Vikings and many others. Go to: http://ancientamerican.com/
UI
As always there seems to be relatively few people there that really are 'workers'. Why? Because the real heart and soul of America is AT WORK on a Thursday, not out decrying every traditional American value they can think of!
Great work, UI!
Great report. What a collection of freaks and audaciously demanding illegals.
95% of those people look cross-eyed-stoned to the gills...
Why do hippie "liberal-progressives" always look so dirty and like they probably stink like fierce B.O.?
Haven't they ever heard of showers?
Is taking a shower before going out in public somehow "supporting racist imperialism"????
Repulsive photo subjects and the usual phenomenal photojournalism, UI. Did you shoot any Memorial Day remembrances? Congrats on the MM link...
Hope you are well and as smiley as we can be expected to muster in these difficult, dangerous times. Blessings to you, Warrior.

Nothing wrong with point and shoot. Lots to be said for capturing the moment "as is." But they are actually quite good to begin with. Nice cross section of humanity--a microcosm in the streets. Nice blog overall.
good post
It is not only sad, but quite disturbing that so many Americans have such disdain for their own country. I guess it is the non stop barrage of leftist opinion in the "mainstream" media, Hollywood, and the U.S. Education system overall. It is like leftists have full control over public opinion by their saturation of public information.
I didnt know that you guys also have some of those nice socialist peacemakers in the United States.
They have nearly the same slogans like in Germany.
Keep up the good work. I like your slideshows.
...please where can I buy a unicorn?
