Gun Blogging at the Rifle and Pistol Range: Target Practice

Stopped into the Westside Rifle and Pistol Range today to brush up a little on my shooting. It's been a while since the last time so I was feeling a bit rusty. The following four targets where done with a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle the full range length is 50 feet.
There's my target just sitting there waiting.
Target No. 1 at 25 feet.
Target No. 2 at 25 feet.
Target No. 3 at 50 feet.
I was a bit too high and hit the metal target holder. The bullets and paint sprayed off the top.
... and then I pulled it together toward the end.
Target No. 4 at 50 feet.
Not bad grouping!
Can't wait to go back!

We get in weekly practice here in Kansas. Redneck Jr and I burn up about 100 22 each. Its the best way. Keep hittin em man.
Weekly practice is a good idea. I'm going to range more often and get a license so I can own a firearm here in the city.
You're aiming a bit high then you're pulling the trigger instead of gently squeezing. On a 22 try putting only the last part of your finger in the guard, it will keep you from using too much force which shifts the gun a bit. Open sight or scope? "Windage and elevation, Mrs. Langdon. Always remember, windage and elevation."

UI, I don't know how you feel about the color pink, but it is popular with some of the ladies.

Thanks for the advice, Anonymous! I will definitely concentrate on squeezing the trigger lightly.
I might also be aiming high because I'm leaning on the counter so I can get a solid grip on the rifle. That lowers my vantage point.
I should also practice shooting more from a standing position.

That's cool. Actually I'm not a big fan of pink. Though I'm sure that assault rifle is effective, I like guns to look like real guns.
