New York City Tea Party April 15, 2010

I went to the Tea Party in Manhattan tonight. There was a terrific crowd and some very small counter-protesting and even a bit of of the promised infiltration.

Unbeknownst to me, every year on tax day there are demonstrations on the steps of the Farley Post Office on 31st Street and 8th Avenue. I had no idea! So before the Tea Party started there was all this other stuff going on. Anti-war funding demonstrators, young kids protesting cuts in the public schools budget, the raging grannies/code pink and even the Anarchist Marching Band for some reason.

Now on to the Tea Party.
Overall a solid event! Lots of people and the speakers were great. Big thanks to David Webb and Kellen Guida for putting it all together.

There were so many outstanding signs I couldn't post them all here, so please check out the full photo slide show. Everything is there.

Click here for the complete slideshow!

Or, if you don't want to go through the entire slide show, the gallery view can be seen here!

The pre-Tea Party party at the bar on the corner!

Sirius Radio Host, Andrew Wilkow!

Everybody was having a good time!

Well, not exactly everyone...

I don't want to waste too much space on the lame infiltrators but since they made such a big deal out of 'taking down the Tea Party' here they are.
This leftist and her hippie boyfriend came strolling into the Tea Party looking for a confrontation toting a sign with indecipherable racist and bizarre messages. She actually made a grab for a sign held by a friend of mine and she got put in her place real quick.
If she was trying to make others look bad, she failed miserably and ended up with a police 'minder' for the rest of the event.

What the heck does that mean? 'Equal access to BOOTS'?

The rest of the Tea Party was energetic and positive. The crowds lined both sides of the street on 8th Avenue!

My very first protest sign.
I printed out at work but didn't take with me 'cause I only got two hands.

Obama get out of our lives!

Hilarious! Love the troll sign, too. Remember NY will not let America down. I only hope that nice lefty gal did not keep her arms up the whole time to show her support of B.O. lol!

I was there and it was a great turn out and I am proud of everyone who could attend...but it was literally on a street corner!!
Those folks deserve a better venue.

You all are a bunch of fascist fucks. I was heartened to see that the turnout was SO much lower than you idiots anticipated. The majority were from upstate and failed to understand why they weren't welcomed by the majority of passerby. Teabaggers were overwhelmingly white middle-aged males and their subservantly stupid wives. All ill-informed and spouting various hare-brained conspiracy theories.

One cretin even tried to convince me that international banking interests such as the Rothschilds were behind Hitler and the Nazis. Antisemitism much? What a bunch of old lonely sad men.

redjeffery,

If you want to see hatred, all you have to do is look in the mirror.

I was there too! Had a lot of fun. Did you see guys with "2nd American Revolution" signs? I couldn't really figure out who they were.

@ "red jeffery",
actually you stumbled across a larouchey, they're more usually found at leftist demonstrations. not too tightly wrapped wherever you find them. definitely not one of ours, we're too busy with real problems to have time for fantasy "conspiracies"

You all do know that 95% of Americans have gotten a tax cut with Obama's policies, right? Right?

But don't let the facts get in the way of a good ragefest or anything.

Meh--it's a half truth. Which means that a leftist such as yourself believes it is wholly true.

Yeah, I'm guilty of hatred alright...hatred of racism, intolerance, ignorance, nationalist jingoism and all the other forms of stupidity and oppression you pitiful excuses for human beings are guilty of. Yes...guilty indeed.

I'm not going to talk about you guys being racist, I don't think you guys really are, but I do know that you guys are a bunch of corporate lemming whores. You guys have no problems bending your back forwards and letting big-business/corporations screw you any way they want to. You don't want government to tell you what to do, but if a corporate CEO as you to jump, you would probably ask "how high?" and "how many times?" Like a sick lap dog.

You want unregulated free-market, but you refuse to see the dangers of that. Should I bring up Enron, Goldman Sachs, Tyco, and worst yet, Massey Energy?

Also you talk about fiscal responsibility, well for starters how about that soon-to-be $750 billion dollar war in Iraq? And what about that Mount Everest-size debt we have in China. And why are you questioning Obama's bailouts when it was Bush started that stupid crap?

And don't get me started on you guys claims for "smaller government"...

Thanks for covering the event for all of us. I am amazed at how many so called America experts in the UK have never attended a Tea Party event.
