Election Protests in Iran / Updated!

'Hope.'

Now where have we heard that before? Sort of ironic when you think of it with President Present and his late and tepid show of support for the Iranian people. The above image I found on eBay. I'm sure it will start appearing on t-shirts soon everywhere. I think there should be a hellvua lot of caution before marrying artsy cutesy revolutionary fervor with someone like Mousavi. He isn't exactly as pure as the driven snow, you know. This is a guy who was part of the bloody revolution in 1979.
UPDATE 6/23: Mousavi was likely behind the 1983 bombing in Beirut which killed 241 US Servicemen!

There is a demonstration in New York City planned for Friday, June 26 outside of the former Iraninian Embassy in Manhattan to show support for the Iranian people but it is being organzined by a group of Communists. I'll be covering those with a very critical eye. I am rooting for freedom before anything. As someone who documents political speech, I doff my hat to the brave bloggers, photographers, videographers in Iran. Well done! The world is watching breathlessly.

Check out Raye Man Kojast? Where is My Vote? for up-to-the-minute details!

Bob Dylan quoted in a sign on the streets of Tehran yesterday.

Congratulations to the Iranian people for their peaceful and exuberant demonstrations. I'd like to see them flush Khameini and his gang down the toilet.

VIDEO: Today in Tehran. The mood hasn't lightened yet and there are breaking reports of violence and crackdown.

The chief of Mossad said that he is the same threat to Israel as Ahmadinejad. Americans need to face the reality that their foreign policy will not change.

I heard, back when they were "choosing" who was going to run for the office, that one of the applicants was a 12-year-old boy......his platform sounded pretty neat : ) .....but still embraced Islam, which is the trouble with Mousavi, also.....

But, I've been hearing, on the Blogmocracy threads, that it is at least an incremental step, what the young people are doing.....

Scary times we are living in now. Dear Leader praises his Supreme Leader, bows to muslim princes, shows the soles of his shoes to Israel, in just his first 20 weeks.

Whereas other blog owners REQUIRE that we NOT DISCUSS the facts of the Coming of al-Qaim and al-Mahdi (because other commenters are 'uncomfortable' with the Coming of the Promised One of ALL Religions), you allow and encourage such factual discussion, seeing with your own eyes how the forces released by Them are at work, TODAY, in the twin dynamics of TEARING DOWN the old order and RAISING UP a New World Order...

a New World Order based on the Oneness of God, the Oneness of the Faith of God, the Oneness of Humankind, the Equality of Men & Women and the personal necessity for the independent investigation of reality with one's Rational Soul...

The principle of the independent investigation of reality SCARES the clergy, for they were indoctrinated, by rote, as if the Koran were a fixed and immutable reality that ONLY THEY understood...

The clergy's blindness is no longer tolerable, to the masses in Iran OR the body of believers throughout the West...

We want the TRUTH, with our own eyes!

Hi Karradine-

All thoughts and comments are welcome here. No topic is off limits.

On a disturbing note...
I saw a video of a police officer being attacked and a woman was trying to defend him as the crowd moved in. I heard last night that his body was later set on fire.

I hope that the Iranian protesters remain peaceful and do not descend into senseless violence.

There is a Iran election protest scheduled for this week in New York City on Friday. The organizers are communists so I'm not excited about it. Nevertheless, I'll get some photos and video and see who else turns out.

Details:
Demonstrate against Islamic Republic of Iran

When: Friday June 26, 2009 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM

Where: Third Ave and 40th Street, across from the Islamic Republic`s Permanent Mission to the UN

Thank you for this information. I have been following the rapidly unfolding events in Iran using the links at Pajamas Media from Richard Fernandez's Belmont Club. It appears from your last thread that the fringe Left (can we call them the fringe when they are in the White House?) are seeking to import their Code Pink San Francisco values and tactics into New York City.
