Gathering of Eagles West Point

Dick Cheney was the roastee du jour in the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition's 'Turn Up The Heat' campaign today at West Point Academy. Their objective was to 'Ignite A Firestorm' as the Vice President addressed the cadets on graduation day. I'm not sure they accomplished that. You'll have to decide.

Demonstrators were not permitted on the Academy grounds, so the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition planned a march planned along Freedom Road and lamentably encamped at a park which also happens to have many important war memorials.

The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition thought so much of the graduating cadets and their families, they brought along a string of coffins and lined them along Freedom Road.

Thank God for the Gathering of Eagles who came out on this beautiful Memorial Day weekend to support the troops with a show of patriotism. It was greatly appreciated by many cadets and their families who went by with lots of thumbs up and cheers.

As you go through my photos please bear in mind that the American flags you see in the gazebo in the park where the ANSWER folks were esconced actually belong to the park.
The Gathering of Eagles brought this little baby along... on top of a 50 ft. crane.

Gitmo Torture Theatre vs. The Gathering of Eagles Times Square

Happy Armed Forces Day!
A big heartfelt thanks to all of our brave and wonderful US Service men and women.
In honor of this special occasion there were two demonstrations in Times Square this afternoon, both to take place on the island in the middle of Broadway in front of the US Armed Forces Recruiter's Station -- a nice location right smack in the center of everything. The Gathering of Eagles and other patriots arrived first and it was a nice turnout despite the chilly light rain. After about an hour or so the 'Torture Theatre' contingent showed up and were not pleasantly surprised to see the large and lively gathering before them. After hesitation and much discussion with the police it was decided that it would be better for them to have their performance art in another location across the street.

Punctuated by bells and drum beats the troupe of moonbats carried out a tortured pantomime supposedly depicting life in Camp X-Ray. At one point the two guys in black ran around in the crowd screaming 'Terrorists! Terrorists!' The police
quickly put a stop to it and apprised them that if they tried that stunt again, which was tantamount to yelling fire in a theater, they would be arrested and told them to remain inside the barriers. The theatrics continued with the guys in black roughing up detainees and implementing the dreaded bucket of water trickle and ghastly confetti torture. Afterwards, walking away I overheard they were going to have another go.

Cat Meat Sheik Taj Din Al Hilaly Meets the 'Mufti Muzzler'

Australian Mufti Taj Din Al Hilaly, the 'Cat Meat Sheik' gets some good advice.
Known for many utterances of dangerous absurdity, like these:

“If the woman is in her boudoir, in her house and if she’s wearing the veil and if she shows modesty, disasters don’t happen.”

“Satan sees women as half his soldiers. You’re my messenger in necessity, Satan tells women you‘re my weapon to bring down any stubborn man. There are men that I fail with. But you’re the best of my weapons.”

“…The woman was behind Satan playing a role when she disobeyed God and went out all dolled up and unveiled and made of herself palatable food that rakes and perverts would race for. She was the reason behind this sin taking place.”

Code Pink & Raging Grannies NYC Mother's Day Peace Stroll

I went to the Code Pink / Raging Grannies for Peace Mother's Day Peace March today that kicked off at Columbus Circle in Manhattan. It was a moderate crowd. There were sing-a-longs and printed out lyrics were passed around for a few less-than-electrifying renditions of 'God Help America' sung to the tune of 'God Bless America', 'Give Iraq our Constitution' to the tune of 'I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy' and finishing with a 'Mother's Day Lament' sung to the tune of 'My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean'.

A member of Mouths Wide Open gave me a pack of toy soldiers and informed me that the idea was to place the soldiers in specific places around the city and photograph them.
The insert read:
'We're spreading plastic Army Men around the country and around the globe as small everyday reminders of the ongoing horrors of the war in Iraq - using them as tools to foster dialogue, action and resistance to the war. Let's put these little messengers everywhere - green plastic icons to the American conscience, creating an environment in which it becomes increasingly difficult to ignore the war, the loss of life and the unending destruction."
There was a small but visible counter-demonstration as well. They passed around a flyer that asks the question:
Who and What is Code Pink?
Code Pink is supposed to represent non-political women aroused by injustice. But one wonders why it bothers with the pretense. To mock the State Department of Homeland Security's color-coded terror alerts, the radicals of the anti-war Left chose pink, the color symbolic of baby girls. Code Pink supporters say they will warn against the "extreme danger to all the values of nurturing, caring and compassion that women and loving men have held." In 1917, the Bolsheviks cried out for "peace, land and bread" to fool the Russian people into believing they were patriotic, not ideological. Nine decades later, Code Pink relies on the same Leninist tactic: Better Pink Than Dead.

Salute to Israel Parade

Today I went to the Salute to Israel Parade on Fifth Avenue.
It was amazing!
Hundreds of thousands of people out on a beautiful day paying tribute.
So much joy! So much energy and love.

Okay, so maybe not everyone was having such a good time...
Tons more pictures, plenty of moonbats and other assorted haters in my slide show.

I decided to add a second slide show. Why not?

Protest Against CAIR Commissioner Omar Mohammedi

There was a protest last night in Manhattan outside the venue for the CAIR Annual Banquet organized by Joe Kaufman, Chairman of Americans Against Hate demanding that Mayor Michael Bloomberg fire Omar Mohammedi from the NYC Commission on Human Rights.

When Mr. Mohammedi isn’t guarding human rights for New York City, he serves as president of the New York branch of the Hamas-linked radical Islamic front group called the Council on American Islamic Relations, and he’s the lawyer who plans to sue unnamed “John Doe” airline passengers who report suspicious behavior.

City Councilman, Robert Jackson was there and came out to pretend to listen to Mr. Kaufman's point of view.

It was a relatively small turnout of protesters, but clearly the guests at the CAIR
Annual Banquet were NOT pleased!

Atlas was there too. She's got excellent video and more coverage. Great to meet you, Pamela!

Here is my slideshow.

Kesher Talk was there. Also see Little Green Footballs: Anti-CAIR Protest in Manhattan.

May Day Union Square

Here are the photos I took today at the Immigration Day / May Day / Che Day rally at Union Square Park. The first picture in my slide show I took early this morning of a man who was standing alone with an American flag and a sign that said 'Americans for Legal Immigration'. A small oppositional portent of what was to follow.

I could hear the crowds roaring from blocks away as I headed towards the park after work. I was amazed at the size of the gathering. A cop that I spoke to said they weren't expecting this many people. The place was jammed, overflowing and everyone, it seemed had a bullhorn. The usual suspects were there, the Socialists, Communists, the Israel-haters,
the Anarchist Marching Band showed up which was something new, and even a Mumia lover, but Che was definitely the man of the hour. I was able to take a few shots before the march headed down to Foley Square.

Here is my slide show of photos.

Little Green Footballs just put up a slide show too! Thanks, Charles!

*Update 05/02/07: Just in! More photos from Union Square in this new slideshow from Gerard.
